Kaile + Steve's Winter Engagement | Johnson City Engagement Photography

I was so excited when one of my friends from high school (in Florida!) contacted me about photographing her wedding! We had reconnected at our 10 year reunion awhile back, and come to find out her fiance grew up in my new town, Kingsport TN, less than ten minutes and just over the ridge from my house! It's such a crazy connected world sometimes. :)

Kaile and Steve are such a fun and adventurous couple, and I think their engagement session definitely reflects their personalities! First, we headed to the one-and-only Yee-Haw Brewery in downtown Johnson City. They have SUCH a neat atmosphere there with a cool urban vibe, and their beer is delicious! They are also super nice and were totally cool with us taking photographs there. Thank you, Yee-Haw!

After some neat photos in the brewery, we headed around downtown for some more photo opportunities, and then we changed and packed up and headed to the Unaka Mountains.

Unfortunately when we got there, we discovered the road to the spot we were planning on had been closed. I was wallowing in disappointment, but not Kaile - she noticed that the Appalachian Trail was literally right there, and she suggested hiking our way up part of the mountain for the photos. So we did.

I might mention that Kaile is amazing.

She hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in a freaking BALLGOWN.

Super kudos to both Kaile and Steve for being game for a little adventure! It was so fun and I really enjoyed the hike - even though I was out of breath when we got high enough for a good mountain view, haha! Next time I won't bring ALL of my heavy equipment on a hike up a cold mountain, ha!

Once we got up high on the mountain, though, it was totally worth it.

The views - the photos - were just incredible. Breathtaking.

Thanks again to Kaile and Steve for being such sports and being down for such an adventurous engagement session! You guys were so fun. I cannot wait to photograph your wedding!
